He was predeceased by: his parents, Solomon Thomas and Katherine Estelle Payne (Burke); and his brothers, Les, Cread and Thomas.
He is survived by: his wife Carolyn "Sue" Payne (Westenbarger) of Mt. Vernon; his daughters, Shonna Harrison of Murfreesboro and Shelly Manning (John) of Wilmington; his grandchildren, Tori Harrison, Celia Manning and Jake Manning; and his siblings, Jesse "Buss" Payne (JoAnn) of Blue Springs, George Payne (Cathy) of Lynchburg, Jane Weikle of Fredericktown, Ohio, Vivian Whited of Fredericktown, Ohio and Jo Ann Whited of Fredericktown, Ohio. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
