He was predeceased by: his parents, Clyde Barton and Geraldine Lucille Barton (Beard); his wife Patricia Freet; his son David Kinder; and his siblings, Karen Ellis (James) and Clyde "Gene" Barton.

He is survived by: his children, Terry Barton (Karen), Timothy Barton (Shoshanna) and Tracy Metzger (Tom); and his sister-in-law Shelia Barton. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren.
