He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert J. Heckman and Joan Heckman (Heinl); his former wife Gladys Heitkamp; and his wife Anne Palmer Newcomb. He is survived by: his children, Stacie (Ben Ernst), Shawn (Shannon Heckman), New Bremen, Rhonda (Peter Beck) and Ryan (Kelli Heckman); his stepchildren, Leslie Newcomb, Scott, Kelly Newcomb and Celina; and his siblings, Linda, Jimmy Eddins of Pensacola, FL, Angie, Tom Niemeyer, Ted and Carol Heckman. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grand Lake Hospice, American Heart Association and OUR HOME.
