With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Betty Jo Blackwood of New Concord, Ohio, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on October 1, 2025. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Herschal Swiger and Vadah Swiger (Tipton); her sister Virginia Foster; and her husband Harold Blackwood. She is survived by: her children, Jim (Carolyn Hayes) of Norwich, Connie (Sam Jennings) of Chesterfield Virginia and Sherry (Bryan Miller) of Chippewa Lake, Ohio.; her grandchildren, Katy Mears (Jeff) and Jerry (Laura Dawson) of Norwich, Ohio.; and her great great grandchildren, Amelia and Madison Britton.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 11th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the College Drive Presbyterian Church (2 W High St, New Concord, OH 43762). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 11th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location. In her life, Jo' witnessed small pox, polio and Covid.
