He was predeceased by : his parents, Charles Sr. Wheeler and Merribelle Kinney Wheeler (Ervin); his brothers, James Kinney, Charles "Bur" Kinney and David Wheeler Jr.; and his stepfather David "Pops" Wheeler.

He is survived by : his wife Lenna Kinney (Mauller); his children, John White (Cindy), Raymond Kinney, Frederick III Kinney (Kristin), Maria Randall and Angel Kinney; his sisters, Lisa Kinney, Tammy Thorp and Frances White; his mother-in-law Rebecca Swiney; his grandchildren, John Jr., Damian, Landon, Gage, Orion, Layla, Lorenzo, Adalynn, Anastasia and Ezra; and his nieces and nephews, Jodie, Kimmie, Amber, Ashley, Jakey, Kayla, Emily, Jennifer, David and Megan. He is also survived by many other nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
