It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Merle Gustav Degen of New Philadelphia, Ohio, who passed away on November 16, 2025, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence H. Degen and Lousie E. Regula Degen; and his brother Glenn Degen. He is survived by: his wife Carol Ott; his children, Michael Degen (Michelle) of Farmington Hills, Samuel Degen of New Philadelphia and Jennifer Randolph (Chester) of New Philadelphia; and his grandchildren, Ian, Amelia, Alexxis (Anthony), Madison, Cammi, Riley, Norah, Ella and Silas. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren, and his nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 19th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory (116 2nd St NE, New Philadelphia, OH 44663). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 19th 2025 at 5:00 PM at the same location.
