He is survived by : his wife Diane E. Shook (Steinebrey); his children, Scott Shook of New Philadelphia and Jackie Harkey (Richard) of Centreville, VA; his grandchildren, Kenedi Shook, Maxwell Harkey, Miles Harkey and Taylor Harkey; and his siblings, Pamela Wallace (Paul) of New Philadelphia, Jennie Msangi (Gill) of Canton, Benjamin Shook (Jody) and Samuel Shook, III (Jackie) of New Philadelphia.

He was always willing to help anyone in need and preferred to remain anonymous in his charity work.
