She was predeceased by : her parents, James G. "Sam" Gordon and Donna F. Newton Gordon. She is survived by : her son Steve Govanello of Cleveland; and her grandson Michael Govanello. She is also survived by her siblings, and many nieces and nephews.

The family requests memorial contributions in Ruth's name be directed to Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Avenue SW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
