He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Merrick and Elizabeth Ellen Merrick (Jones); his wife Linda Merrick (Andrews); his son Robert Merrick; his siblings, June Merrick Mackling, Jay Merrick, Garvin Merrick, Don Merrick, Bill Merrick, Christine Merrick Rowley and Marlin Merrick; and his brothers-in-law, Jim Pierson and Terry Rohrer.
He is survived by: his daughter Angela Merrick Cloud (John Boyd); his grandsons, Jason Cloud (Jill), Joshua Cloud (Crystal) and Joseph Cloud (Kelsey); and his great grandchildren, Mackenzie Cloud, Rowen Cloud, Olivia Cloud, Emma Cloud, Ellie Cloud, Jeffrey Cloud and Joby Charles Cloud. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 24th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the New Vienna Community Church (412 West St, New Vienna, OH 45159). A funeral service was held on Thursday, September 24th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Thursday, September 24th 2026 from 2:45 PM to 3:15 PM at the Clinton County Memory Gardens (1628 Center Rd, Wilmington, OH 45177).
