He was predeceased by: his parents, Virgil Karl and Mary Karl (Fisher); his brothers, Norbert "Norb" Karl, William "Bill" Karl, James "Jim" Karl, Jerry Karl and Herbert "Herb" Karl; and his parents-in-law, Phyllis and Carl Montgomery.

He is survived by: his wife Judy Karl (Montgomery); his sons, Adam Karl (Erica) and Michael Karl (Jessica); and his grandchildren, Faith, Emmalynn, Sophia, Jaxson, Trevor and Sammy. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
