It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gertrude Backlund (Newark, Ohio), born in Hurley, Wisconsin, who passed away on September 1, 2021, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Celestin "Lefty" and Margaret "Peg" Trier; her husband Dale Backlund; and her siblings, Francis Trier, John Trier, David Trier, Timothy Trier, Celestin Trier, Michael Trier, Margaret Ramuta, Flora Pavlovich, Patricia Leinon and Catherine Caruso.

She is survived by: her daughters, Sharon Kniffin (Vance) and Carolyn Hopkins (Pete); her grandchild Dale Backlund (Stephanie); her sister Lou Semo; and her grandchildren, Bridget Backlund, Rory Hopkins, Halley Backlund and Izabella Backlund. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
