With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Jerald Leon Eckman of Newark, Ohio, born in Chicago, Illinois, who passed away on December 24, 2022 at the age of 80. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his father Leon Eckman. He is survived by: his wife Marsha Eckman (Garey); his children, Jerald Eckman (Betty) and Amber Howard (Chad); his stepsons, John Young of Newark and David Neudecker of Newark; his siblings, Bob Eckman (Mary) and Judith Duke; his mother-in-law Della Garey; his siblings-in-law, Chuck Garey (Kim), Jim Garey (Tracy), Don Garey (Julia), Steve Salach (Francie), Cindy Short of Newark and Joe Barth (Christina) of Granville; his pets, Saber and Roscoe; and his close friends, Bill Orndorff (Johnda) of Granville and Gene Greenberg (Carol). He is also survived by four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four step grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
