He was predeceased by: his parents, Clyde Eugene and Ruby Viola Johnson; his brothers, Charles and Mark Johnson; his sister-in-law Debbie Johnson; his grandparents, Garrett, Mary Johnson (Hess), Cecil and Grace Terry (Spears); his stepson James Tapia; and his stepfathers, Frank Collins and Lloyd Gibson.

He is survived by: his sons, Garrett Johnson of Columbus and Jeremy (Jennifer) of Pataskala, Ohio; his grandchildren, Trent and Leiah Johnson; his siblings, Brenda Hickman (John) of Ray, Ohio and Wayne Johnson of Chesapeake, Ohio; his sister-in-law Gloria Johnson of Jackson, Ohio; his stepchildren, Lori Libby (Gregg) and Joseph "Joe" Tapia; his stepgrandchildren, Austin Libby (Erin), Loren Libby, Garion, Sugar Tapia, Leia Bland (Kenny), Jorden Tapia and Jared Tapia; his great-niece Jessica Bowen (Barrett); and his family, Lori, Gregg, Jessica, Barrett and Corliss Cunningham. He is also survived by four great- grandchildren.
