He was predeceased by: his parents, Bernard N. Hickman and Zelma Hickman (Vanhook); his son-in-law John Hanson; his brothers, Sam, Bernard and Richard Hickman; and his brother-in-law Donn Ricard.

He is survived by: his wife Jean Hickman (Schott); his children, Michelle Hanson, Thomas Hickman and Chad Hickman (Jen); his grandchildren, Ben, Katy, Annie, Blake, J. T. Hanson, Sam, Cameron, Margo and Joe Hickman; his siblings, Pat Ricard, Linda Harris (Byron), Cheryl Millfelt (Mel), David Hickman (Mel), Joyce Schneider (Gary), Marty Flowers (Duane) and Kathi Crawmer (Ty); and his sister-in-law Faye Hickman. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
