He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert J. and Mary K. Schmidt (Noll); and his brother Joseph Schmidt. He is survived by: his wife Karen Schmidt (Benner); his children, Allyson Patton (Bradley), Matthew Schmidt (Ashley) and Nathan Schmidt (Anna); his grandchildren, Nicklaus, Kaylee, Aiden and Addison; and his siblings, Thomas Schmidt (Diane), Kathi Wentzel (Phil) and Susan Schmidt. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
