He was predeceased by: his parents, James T. Hay and Goldie L. Hay (Fannin); his sons, Danny Hayes and Donny Hayes; his grandson Joshua Hayes; and his stepdaughter Connie Bolen (Bill).
He is survived by: his wife Beulah M. Castle Hayes (Ramey); his children, Diane Haines (James) of Newark, Paula Hayes, Douglas Hayes (Diana) of Bellaire and Robert Hayes of Cincinnati; his stepson Ernest Castle (Barbara "Charlie") of Newark; his sister-in-law Lou Crager of Clearfield, KY; and his close friend Burl "Dick" Ashcraft. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews.
