She was predeceased by: her grandparents, Frank, Carolyn Bassett Jr., Betty Shea Barnes and Timothy Shea; and her uncle Robert Bassett.
She is survived by: her parents, Richard Bassett and Cathy Bassett of Niles; her brothers, Richard Bassett Jr. (Trishia) of Niles, Stephen Bassett (Jaclyn Sears) of McDonald and Michael Bassett (Cieleste) of Niles; and her siblings' children, Richard Bassett III, Franklin Bassett, Kathryn Bassett, Preston, Landon, Bailey, Jesse and Alexis.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Melanie's memory to The Rich Center for Autism.
