With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Melvin D Hockensmith Jr. (Niles, Ohio), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on January 5, 2026 at the age of 82. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin Sr. Hockensmith and Elizabeth Hockensmith of Niles; his sister Katy; his brother-in-law Richard Yahnert; Louis and Katherine Vivolo.
He is survived by: his wife Marilyn; his son Mark; his daughter-in-law Kasi; his granddaughter Rosabella; his brother Jack; his siblings-in-law, Vicki Hockensmith, JoAnn, Joe Venosky, Kathy and Michael Welsh; and his nieces and nephews, Denny Heeter, Donna Medina (Joel), Nicole Divens (Randy), Christy Rohrbaugh (Bob), Lori Tackett (Rick), Megan Kutoba (Walt) and Gretchen Mahan (Andy).
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Howland Classroom Teachers' Association Scholarship fund with a check payable to "The HCTA" and indicating "Scholarship" on the memo line.
