He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Smith and Mary Smith (Essinger); his son Robert Smith; his stepdaughter Theresa Johnson; his siblings, Ike Smith and Shirley Elsea; and his grandson Chris Burks.
He is survived by: his close friend Debra Sheeks; his children, Mary Burks (Ron) of Cygnet, James Smith (Sandy) of North Baltimore and Larry Smith, II; his stepdaughter Tonya Grant of North Baltimore; and his sister Sharon Dalton of Ashland, OH. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
