He was predeceased by: his parents, John Henry Sr. and Elsie Elizabeth Riggen; and his siblings, Katherine "Kap" Sutton (Clarence) and Richard Riggen (Winafred). He is survived by: his wife Mary Kay; and his children, Shelly Keller (late David), John Riggen III (Kim) and Joseph "Scott" Riggen (Dawn). He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
