He was predeceased by: his parents, Marquis Hartman and Florence Hartman. He is survived by: his children, Linda Blevins (Companion Jimmy Meadows) of Coal City, Nancy Johnson (John) of DeLeon, Melvin Hartman Jr. (Rita) of North Ridgeville, Deborah Raines (Peter) of Elyria, Mark Hartman of North Ridgeville and Barbara Waite (Robert) of Clarksville, Tennessee. He is also survived by 15 Grandchildren; 19 Great Grandchildren; two Great-Great Grandchildren; and four sisters.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital.
