He was predeceased by: his wife Molly Files (West); his parents, Robert Files and Gladys Files; and his sisters, Jane Solen and Helen Synder.
He is survived by: his sister Carol Diaz of Greenville, SC; his children, David Files, Sherri Oates (Michael) and Kimberly Files (Tabitha Wilkens); and his grandchildren, Ashley, Devan, Heath and Olivia. He is also survived by several great-grandchildren.
