He was predeceased by: his parents, Elizabeth Merrilees (Sides) and John "Jack" Merrilees; and his sisters-in-law, Edna Smith (Lyle), Elsie Righter (Rod), Betty Schreck (Larry) and Roberta Gray (Robert).
He is survived by: his wife Irene Earl; his children, John Merrilees (Sharon) of Norwalk and Janet Scheid (Jeff) of Monroeville; his grandchildren, Jacklyn Davis (Lance) and Clement Scheid (Allison); his stepgrandson Nathan Meagrow (Megan); his great grandchildren, Kayla, Kelsey, Keith and Cooper; his stepgreat-grandchildren, Payton and Parker; and his sister Meg Rutter (Ned).
