He was predeceased by: his parents, Garrett Cole and Pearl Cole (Gilbert); and his siblings, Mary-Margaret, Gladys and Claude.
He is survived by: his spouse Melda "Jewell" Cole (Hodge); his children, Darrell Cole (Kim) and Joyce Patterson (Cliff); his grandchildren, Jessica McGuffin (Michael), Josh Cole (Brittany), Kelsey Kroener (Chris), Andrew Bird (Rebecca), Carly Godfrey (Tyler) and Abbie Bird; and his great grandchildren, Emily, Savannah, Joshua, Sadie, Rhett, Everlie, Olivia, Axel, Adilynn, Finley and Keegan.
Visitation was held on Monday, May 11th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Mihovk-Rosenacker Funeral Home (10211 Plainfield Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45241). A funeral service was held on Monday, May 11th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Monday, May 11th 2026 at the Rest Haven Memorial Park (10209 Plainfield Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45241).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in James' honor may be made to any charity of donor's choice.
