The passing of Janet Louise Wanyek of Oberlin, Ohio, born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania leaves a void in the hearts of many, as we bid farewell to a loving soul who departed on July 8, 2025 at the age of 87. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her husband Albert James Wanyek; her brothers, Charles Smoyer and Clarence Smoyer; and her parents, Charles Wesley and Pearl Elizabeth Smoyer.
She is survived by: her daughters, Sheryl Wanyek, Deborah Ackerman (Harold) and Ginny Gunn; her grandchildren, Jennifer Winslow (Jeff), Beth Ann Jeffries, Erik Houston, Pearl Gunn and Madi Gunn; and her great grandchildren, Aaron, Kayla, Lilly and Emmery. She is also survived by six great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 12th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Hempel Funeral Home (373 Cleveland Ave, Amherst, OH 44001). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 12th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kendal at Oberlin Staff Appreciation Fund, 600 Kendal Drive, Oberlin, OH 44074 in recognition and gratitude for the compassionate care Jan received during her time there.
