He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Gilbert and Jean Gilbert (Brockhoff). He is survived by: his wife Connie Gilbert; his children, Amanda Wright (Chad) and Brandon Gilbert (Heidi); his grandchildren, Thomas Gilbert and Baby Gilbert-Wright; and his brother Gary Gilbert (Vicki). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Friday, October 9th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Fitch Denney Funeral Home (455 Ridge Ave, Greendale, IN 47025). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 9th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
