She was predeceased by: her parents, Clyde Bays and Gladys Lawrence (Thornsberry); her brother Danny Bays; and her nephews, Danny Kousma and Christopher Bays.

She is survived by: her children, Jamelle Bays of Tiffin and Sade Smith of Ontario, Ohio; her close friend Brad Smith; her grandchildren, Isaiah Bays and Janiya Bays; her great grandchildren, Xavier Isaiah Bays, Maverick Bigley, Brian Bradford Bays, Boston Bailey and Paisley Denney; and her sisters, Bernice Schaaf and Lisa Harvey (Calvin). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
