He was predeceased by: his parents, William Cunningham and Mary Cunningham (Gearhart); his brother Thomas Cunningham; and his sister-in-law Deb Cunningham. He is survived by: his wife Jenny; his children, Douglas Cunningham Jr. (Mary Jane), David Cunningham and Sheila Fussell (Corey); his grandchildren, Alyssa Witt (Casey), Morgan Cunningham, Megan Cunningham and Mary Cunningham; his great grandchildren, Daniel James "DJ" and Benton; and his siblings, Dennis Cunningham, Sherry Griffis, William Cunningham, Cathy Maxwell (Richard) and Susan Cunningham. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 18th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday, September 19th 2026 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. A rosary will be held on Friday, September 18th 2026 at 7:00 PM at the Freck Funeral Chapel (1155 S Wynn Rd, Oregon, OH 43616). A Mass will be held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the St. Ignatius Catholic Church (212 N Stadium Rd, Oregon, OH 43616). A burial will be held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 at the St. Ignatius Cemetery (212 N Stadium Rd, Oregon, OH 43616).
