He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Johnston and Jenny Johnston (Podkidek); his son Richard "Ricky" Johnston; his granddaughter Annabella Lola Rudess; his parents-in-law, Leonard and Betty LeGare; and his brothers-in-law, Timothy, Leonard, Terrence and Kenneth LeGare.
He is survived by: his son-in-law Anthony; his wife Sharon LeGare; his children, James Johnston (Tammy Vincent-Johnston), Deborah Johnston-Kajfasz (Joseph Kajfasz), Barbara Johnston-Rudess (Anthony Rudess) and Jennifer Johnston (Juan Hernandez); his grandchildren, Curtis, Riley, Casey Johnston, Brodie, Genavieve Kajfasz, Giavanna, Rocco Rudess, Gulianna and Isabella Hernandez; his great grandchildren, Zayden Simpkins and Lennon Farias; his sister Cindy Johnston (Charles Horvath); his sister-in-law Yvonne Berndt (Scott); and his nieces and nephews, Scott Jr., Nicholas Berndt, Nikki and Ashley Bowen.
