He was predeceased by: his parents, William B. Byers and Juanita E. Byers (Speck); his wife Carolyn (Scheirmyer); his daughter Lynn Ellen; his stepfather Lester Simmons; his sisters, Greta Dixon, Norma Thrush and Pauline Kovacs; and his siblings-in-law, Marilyn, Ernest, Wayne and James.
He is survived by: his children, Diane Spetz (Gary), William "Billy" Byers and Julie Hardy; his grandchildren, Joel (Brittany), Jordan (Kaitlyn), Jenna (Bethany), Blake (Tara), Blair (Adam), Katie, Billy, Steven (Brittany) and Christopher; and his stepsiblings, Carol Deal and Bill Simmons. He is also survived by great grandchildren.
