He was predeceased by: his parents, Francisco Alafa, and Eulalia Alafa, Sr. (Vega); his brothers, Roel Alafa, Feliciano Alafa and Francisco Alafa, Jr.; and his son Baldemar Alafa, Jr..

He is survived by: his wife Oralia "Lyla" Salinas; his children, David Alafa of Leipsic, Mercedes Lisa Larry (Ron) of Ottawa, Vanessa Petersen (Howard) of Ottawa and Eric Caraballo (Stephanie) of Delphos; his siblings, Eloisa Gonzalez (Lupe) of California, Ismelda Vasquez (John) of California and Robert Alafa (Alice) of Texas; and his sisters-in-law, Suzie Alafa of California, Lydia Alafa of California and Kathleen Alafa of Leipsic. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.
