He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesse "Red" Milton Woods and Doris Geneva Smith; his daughter Brenda Lee Woods; and the mother of his children Eleanor James Lane. He is survived by: his daughters, Linda Woods Jones (Jay) of Portsmouth and Phyllis Shirey (Jeffrey) of Otway; and his grandchildren, Michael Wamsley (Jennifer), David Mays, Jesse Mays (Courtney), Jaymes Jones, Brett Cassidy (Kristina), Brandon Shirey (Alex), Joseph Jones (Brynn), Eun Hae Salanoa (Nick), Jay Jones (Govanna), Jee Hae Hill (Chad), Andrew Jones, John Jones and Jessica Groves. He is also survived by 18 great grandchildren.
