He was predeceased by: his parents, Laura Baker (Dawson) and Elmer Baker; his former wife Geraldine Baker (Sullivan); his daughter Barbara Ann Fields; and his siblings, Melvin, George, Harry, Paul, David, Ruth, Margaret, Beulah and Vesta.

He is survived by: his wife Jeannette Baker (McCormick); his children, Terry Baker (Donna), Cindy Hampton (Delbert), Don Baker, Doug Baker and Tim Baker (Candy); his daughters-in-law, Debbie and Cindy; his adoptive daughter Sandy Bowie; his grandchildren, Lisa (Scott), Lori (Duane), Casey (Christian), Beth (Brad), Sherry (Craig), Dana (Rob), Lindsey (Andrew), Chris (Anna), Matt, Jake, Kyle, Michael (Jennifer), Alan (Paige), Erika (DeWayne) and Taylor Bowie; and his sister Grace. He is also survived by 22 great-grandchildren.
