He was predeceased by: his parents, Bailey Simpson and Arah Simpson (Robinson); his wife Yvonne Faye Hurd; his grandson Benjamin Robert Simpson; and his siblings, Alice Jean Simpson and James Albert Simpson.

He is survived by: his children, Debra Jean Witte (Ray), Robert Bailey Simpson (Kathryn), Steven Craig Simpson (Maryann), Michael Winston Simpson (Sandra) and Catherine Michelle Heinrich (Michael); and his siblings, Charles Ellis Simpson, Ronald Dean Simpson (Patricia) and Glenda Sue Hughes (Ellis). He is also survived by eight grandchildren.
