He was predeceased by: his parents, Duane C. Schafer and Marilyn Schafer (Coonrod); his brother James Schafer; his former wife Cheryl Marie Karr (Bradford); and his wife Doris Schafer (Sears).
He is survived by: his children, Tom Schafer, Jay Schafer and Rebecca Adams (Schafer); and his nieces, Amber Jones, Amy Shedenhelm, Ashley and Jessica Schafer. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
