David Eugene Bass Obituary

David Eugene Bass, February 14th, 1951 to December 2nd, 2025David Bass-A devoted husband, father, Pawpaw, father-in-law, uncle, brother, and friend to many, passed away surrounded by his loving family on December 2nd, 2025. He will be remembered for his unwavering love, steady presence, and the kindness he shared with everyone who knew him.

Dave was born on February 14th, 1951, in Columbus, OH. He is the son of the late Jesse and Eleanor Bass. Dave is survived by Pam, his wife of 53 years; son Matthew (Bethany) Bass; son Benjamin (Julie) Bass; daughter Ashley (Brian) Strickland; grandson Emmet Bass; brother Rick (Dawn) Bass; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his sister Carolyn Martin.

Dave graduated from Gahanna Lincoln High School in 1969 and proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Following his military service, he worked for Columbia Gas for 29 years, and reminisced about it for 20 more.

A faithful member of Jersey Baptist Church, Dave cherished his many years as part of the choir.

Dave treasured the bond he shared with his best friends Dick Zerman and Paul Morbitzer, which brought him great joy, laughter, and comfort over the years.

Dave was the family's trusted handyman, always ready to repair, build, or lend a helping hand. The lovingly crafted mantels and countless bookshelves he created will remain a constant reminder to those he loved that he will always be with them.

In retirement, Dave's greatest joys were the time he spent with his grandson, Emmet, Sunday family lunches and vacations to the ocean.

Dave's life was defined by love, hard work, faith, and devotion to his family. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind, and in the countless lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1Private services will be held at a later date.
