James Joseph Engle Obituary
James "Jim" Joseph Engle Sr., age 89, of Pataskala, Ohio passed at his residence on Thursday, June 11, 2026. He was born on July 17, 1936, in Marietta, Ohio to the late William and Amelia Engle.
Jim was a graduate of the 1954 class from Lowell High School. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, serving during the Korean Conflict. Following his basic training in Bainbridge, Maryland, Jim was stationed in Pensacola, Florida and served a tour in Northern Africa. Jim was the proud owner and operator of Engle Lumber. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing at Broadview Golf Course. Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend, and so much more; he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Carolyn "Carol" Engle; sons, Jim Jr., Bill, Chuck, and Tom (Terri); daughters, Terrie Fowler, Dianne (Craig) and Cheryl (Robbie) Nickel; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Zita Izzo; and a host of other family, friends, and loved ones. In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in passing by his grandson, Jason Engle; many siblings; and daughters-in-law, Velma Engle and Tammy Lesh.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Kauber-Fraley Funeral Home, 289 S. Main St., Pataskala, OH 43062. Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at Church of the Ascension, 555 S. Main St., Johnstown, OH 43031, with Father P.J. Brandimarti officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
