He was predeceased by : his parents, Robert B. Stamper and Eliza M. Stamper (Smalls); and his siblings, Robert (Bobby), Walter Ray (Bill), Stanley, Geraldine Tate, Bernice Stephenson and Alfreda Tackett.

He is survived by : his wife Patricia Stamper (Adkins); his children, Ronald Stamper (Cathy) of Cincinnati and Kelli Sharp (Dave Large) of Coal Grove; his grandchildren, Ronald Crabtree (Whitney), Taylor Gullett (Hunter), Chase Snedegar and Bailey Sharp; and his siblings, James, Edith Norris, Loretta Martin, Beverly Stapleton and Katherine Noel.

George was a significant presence at the annual Central Zone Alzheimer's Golf Outing and served as the Ohio State Aerie Chairman of the Heart Fund for many years and spent countless hours organizing many golf outings to raise money for the charity.
