He was predeceased by : his grandparents, Arnett, Joann Hiser, Charlie Kerns and Carolyn Wooten. He is survived by : his children, Wyatt Kerns of North Carolina, Calvin Andrew Kerns III of North Carolina, Jordan Bidix of North Carolina, Skyler Bidix of North Carolina and Kenny Ray Simpson of North Carolina; and his siblings, Lena Kerns of Peebles, Sharon Kerns of Peebles, Rachel Franklin of Peebles and Quintin Kerns of Peebles. He is also survived by many nephews and nieces and one great-nephew.

Memorial donations may be made to the funeral home to help the family with expenses.
