He was predeceased by: his parents, Jack R. Shaffer and Phyllis Lorraine Shaffer Sr. (Miller); his wife Luella Mae Hall; and his children, Chad Wagner and Kristine Anderson.
He is survived by: his children, Laurie Porter (Shawn) of Bradner, Rodney Wagner (Tammy) of Hudson, MI and Ben Shaffer of Jackson, MI; and his siblings, Linda Deneka, Carol Snyder of Jackson, MI, Charles Bonner of Jackson, MI and Lewis Bonner. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
