He was predeceased by : his grandparents, Sheldon, Dorothy Shipley, Andrew and Martha Erwin; and his father-in-law Gary Wells.

He is survived by : his children, Claudia Erwin, Chloe Erwin (Caleb Sterling) and Luke Swingle (Cassie Snack); his grandchildren, Cornell and Caliana Lynum; and his siblings, Jim Erwin Jr. (Tracy), Melissa Weaver (Chuck), Mark Erwin (Treasa) and Eric Erwin (Angie).
