He was predeceased by: his parents, Reverend Elmore Burkitt and Wanda Burkitt (Matthews); his grandson Evan Andrew Burkitt; and his sister-in-law Jeannine Burkitt (Parker). He is survived by: his wife Barbara Burkitt (McFann); his children, Daniel Burkitt (Penny), Elizabeth Johnson (Randal), David Burkitt (Lori) and Ellen Emnett (Jake); his grandchildren, Lindsay Ottens (John), Edward Burkitt, Cyndi Wallace (Ben), Ethan Johnson and Connor Burkitt (Gracey); his stepgranddaughter Sydney Brandyn Obetz (Zach); his great grandchildren, Emmitt Wallace, Kamryn Wallace, Jase Wallace, Lexi Wallace, Emma Ottens and Luke Ottens; his stepgreat-grandchildren, Braedyn Obetz and Macyn Obetz; his brothers, Morris Burkitt (Nancy) and Delmar Burkitt; and his friends, Benny Endicott and Elmer "Dutch" Skidmore. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 27th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Boyer Funeral Home (125 W 2nd St, Waverly, OH 45690). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 28th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
