He was predeceased by: his parents, Francis E. Bates and Virginia Eisenzimmer (Byerly). He is survived by: his son Andrew Bates of Troy; his grandchildren, Sawyer and Blake; and his siblings, Dennis Bates of Alaska and Tammy Cool (Mike) of Celina.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, December 12th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home (333 High St, Piqua, OH 45356).
