It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joyce Oakes of Piqua, Ohio, who passed away on February 17, 2026, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As we bid farewell to this luminous soul, let her loved ones carry forward the torch of her memory, illuminating the path ahead with the warmth of her love and the brilliance of her spirit. Though Joyce may journey beyond the horizon of our sight, her essence remains woven into the very fabric of our being — a guiding light in the darkness, a beacon of hope in the night.
She was predeceased by: her parents, James Henry and Rosella Mae Smith (Shepherd). She is survived by: her sons, Howard "Skip" Oakes of Piqua and Warren "Cork" Oakes (Lou Ellen) of Piqua; her former husband Robert Oakes (Mary); and her grandchildren, Faye Oakes, Cody Oakes (Colleen), Cassie Majestic (Paul), Elissa Overbee (Charles), Chloe Richard (Dawson) and Seth Ellis (Emily). She is also survived by eight great grandchildren; also numerous other relatives and friends.
