He was predeceased by: his parents, Stanley E. Bernard and Adelle M. Bernard (Meyer); his brother Mark Bernard; his brother-in-law Robert "Bob" Black; and his stepson Brian Cary.
He is survived by: his son Matt Bernard (Brandi) of Troy; his grandchildren, Dylan (Andi), Braxton, Colby, Tyler, Breeze, Micah, Madisyn, Mariah and Mavaya; and his siblings, John "Jack" Bernard (Susan) of Milford and Sandra Black (Larry Warner) of Piqua.
