Michael Childre Obituary

Michael Paul "Mike" Childre of Piqua, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on August 2, 2026, at the age of 50. He was born on October 9, 1975, to the late Esther L. Childre of Piqua, Ohio, and the late Robert C. Childre Sr. of Terre Haute, Indiana.

Survivors include four children: Alexander "Alex" of Tipp City, Ohio; and Nathaniel "Nate", Rebecca "Becca", and Daphne of Surprise, Arizona; three sisters: Teresa Childre of Piqua, Ohio; Kathleen Sturgeon and husband Jeff of Troy, Ohio; and Jennifer Starkey and husband Shelby of Piqua, Ohio. Mike had many nieces, nephews, and many other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert "Bob" Childre and Jerold "Jerry" Childre.

After graduating from Piqua High School with honors, including the National Merit Scholarship, Mike obtained a bachelor's degree in accounting. He went on to work in a very notable firm in Ohio. Mike also carried a CDL license and drove over the road for some time. He was a devoted father of four children; they were his whole world. He loved his children more than anything; his only goal in life was to be with them. Mike enjoyed reading and could read a book faster than anyone we know. He loved authors such as Stephen King, Anne Rice, and of course, J.R.R. Tolkien. He enjoyed watching the Arizona Diamondbacks baseball team. Mike was known for his sense of humor; he could make something funny out of anything. Mike was very much loved, left us way too soon, and will be sadly missed.

A celebration of life will be held at 704 Maplecrest Dr. in Troy, Ohio, on September 5th from 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM. Please bring your fondest memories.
