He was predeceased by : his parents, Omer "Duane" Butt and Beverly A. Butt (Clemens); his stepfathers, Vincent Caserta and Richard Peltier; and his sister Kathy Butt.

He is survived by : his children, Steven Butt of Piqua, Skyler Butt of Piqua, Kimber Brown (Chad McLaughlin) of Piqua, Jeffery Ganger of Dallastown and Wyatt Brown of Memphis, Tennessee; his grandchildren, Aliyah, Lily, Amelia and Colten; his siblings, Chris Ratermann of Fort Loramie, Larry Butt (Lisa) of Piqua, Rob Butt of Pickerington, Karen Sudduth (Ralph Patterson) of Brookville, Theresa Perando of Kettering and Dave Butt (Karen) of Sidney; his foster children, C. J., Nia, Levi, Robert, Jessica, Lesta and Katie; and his pet Muggy. He is also survived by numerous nieces & nephews and great-nieces & great-nephews.
