Geneva Mae Mitchell Obituary
Geneva Mae (Gipson) Mitchell, a kind-hearted woman with boundless love for her family passed away on June 6, 2025. She was 91 years old and passed peacefully at home with her children by her side. As she drew in her last breath God's promise in Revelation 21:4 became moms promise to her, "He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain...". She is now free from all her pain and can now rest in the comforting arms of Jesus.
Genny, as she liked to be called, was born October 31, 1933 in Nortonville, KY to Effie May (Laffoon) Gipson and Pete Gipson. Effie and Pete's family soon moved to the Shelburne, Indiana area where they lived out most of their lives.
It was here in Indiana Genny attended George Rogers Clark High School and met her future husband, Clifford Mitchell. After marrying Clifford in 1952, they had three of their children in Indiana then moved to Columbus, Ohio where they had their fourth. Then moving to Plain City where Clifford built the home they raised their four children in. Then unexpectedly Clifford passed away in 1970 leaving Geneva to raise 4 young children on her own. She worked as a secretary in several businesses. Her last two jobs were with Jefferson's Savings Bank in West Jefferson, Ohio. Then secretary for the night course director at Tolls Technical Institute in Plain City, Ohio where she eventually retired after 19 years.
To know Genny is to know she loved her family, chocolate and her stories, aka soap operas but even more she was an avid reader. Well, read in many genres from Harry Potter to Steven King to Gone with the Wind and everything in between. Finding each author to be just as exciting as the next. After reading became a struggle she was introduced to streaming. And from then on she could watch Harry Potter unfold and come to life once again.

And if I go while you're still here know that I live on vibrating to a different measure behind a veil you cannot see through. You will not see me so you must have faith. I wait for the time we can soar together again both aware of each other. Until then live your life to its fullest, and when you need me. Just whisper my name in your heart…. I will be there.
