He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Ackerman and Dolores Ackerman (Zienta); his wife Ruth A. Mayle; and his brother James Ackerman. He is survived by: his children, Robert Ackerman (Rebecca Graham), Susan Yellstrom (Thomas) and Kenneth Ackerman (Barbara Raney); his brother Thomas Ackerman; his sister-in-law Mary Jo Ackerman of Fremont; his grandchildren, Quinn (Katie), Max (Dominic), Andrew Yellstrom (Vickie), Emily Guzman (Isaiah), Samantha Anderson (Zach), Matthew Ackerman and Kyle Shrigley (Bryan); his great grandchildren, Noah, Liam, Myla and Haven Guzman; and his friends, Matt and Rachelle Paeth.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the St. Joseph Catholic Church (709 Croghan St, Fremont, OH 43420). A Mass will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the same location.

Memorials can be made in Ray's honor to Heartland Hospice, Immaculate Conception Church or SJCC Booster Club.
