He was predeceased by: his parents, Tom Russell and Lillian Booth Riggs; his wife Jean; and his brothers, Fred and Joe Russell.

He is survived by: his children, Denise (Jack), Dale (Denise) and Doak (Rebecca). He is also survived by nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
